Which scriptures affirm God's rule?
What other scriptures affirm God's role in establishing earthly kingdoms and rulers?

Why Start with Daniel 2:37? A Snapshot of Sovereignty

“You, O king, are king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory.” (Daniel 2:37)

Nebuchadnezzar ruled the greatest empire of his day, yet Daniel reminded him that every ounce of that authority came straight from the throne of heaven. Scripture never treats that idea as unique to Babylon; it is a theme that runs from Genesis to Revelation.

Tracing the Golden Thread

1. God’s sovereignty over rulers is universal—pagan, Jewish, or Christian.

2. His control spans eras: from ancient monarchies (Daniel) to future kingdoms (Revelation).

3. Human authority is therefore derivative, temporary, and accountable.

4. For believers, confidence and calm replace panic; our ultimate allegiance rests in the One who seats and unseats every earthly power.

How can we recognize God's authority in our leaders, based on Daniel 2:37?
