Which scriptures show God's total control?
What other scriptures emphasize God's control over earthly and spiritual realms?

Setting the Scene in Zechariah 6:8

“Then He called to me, ‘Look, those going toward the north country have quieted My Spirit in the land of the north.’” (Zechariah 6:8)

The prophetic vision of four spirit-driven chariots reveals that the Lord’s authority stretches effortlessly from His throne to the farthest nation (“the north country”) and into the unseen realm (“the four spirits of heaven,” v. 5). What follows are companion passages that echo and amplify this truth.

Every Realm Is His: Old Testament Witness

Psalm 103:19 — “The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.”

Daniel 4:34–35 — “His dominion is an everlasting dominion… He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth.”

Psalm 2:1-4 — Nations rage, yet “the One enthroned in heaven laughs.”

Proverbs 21:1 — “The king’s heart is a waterway in the hand of the LORD; He directs it where He pleases.”

Isaiah 45:7 — “I form light and create darkness… I, the LORD, do all these things.”

1 Chronicles 29:11-12 — “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness… in Your hand are power and might.”

Exodus 14:21, 2 Kings 6:17 — From parting seas to opening spiritual eyes, He commands both natural and angelic forces.

Christ Enthroned: New Testament Witness

Matthew 28:18 — “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”

Ephesians 1:20-22 — Christ is seated “far above all rule and authority… and God put everything under His feet.”

Colossians 1:16-17 — “In Him all things were created… visible and invisible… and in Him all things hold together.”

Hebrews 1:3 — He is “upholding all things by His powerful word.”

Revelation 5:13 — Every creature in heaven, on earth, and under the earth lifts praise to the Lamb.

Acts 17:26 — God “determined” the nations’ times and boundaries.

God’s Governance of Spiritual Powers

Job 1:12; 2:6 — Satan’s activity is strictly limited by divine permission.

Luke 10:17-19 — Demons submit in Christ’s name; believers receive authority “over all the power of the enemy.”

1 Peter 3:22 — Jesus is “at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.”

Romans 8:38-39 — Neither “angels nor rulers… nor anything else in all creation” can thwart His redemptive plan.

Mark 4:39 — Wind and sea obey a single word from the Master.

Living Under a Sovereign King

• Confidence — The same Lord who stationed Zechariah’s chariots governs every headline and hidden battle today.

• Stability — Because “all things hold together” in Christ (Colossians 1:17), believers stand secure even when nations shake.

• Obedience — If kings’ hearts are channels in His hand (Proverbs 21:1), then our hearts should yield quickly to His leading.

• Hope — Nothing in the earthly or spiritual realm can overrule the purposes of the One whose Spirit is “quieted” only when His perfect will is accomplished.

How can we find peace knowing God's plans are fulfilled, as in Zechariah 6:8?
