Exodus 23

1You shall not spread false reports. Do not aid the guilty by being a false witness. 2Do not follow the crowd doing wrong; nor pervert justice by siding with a mob in a dispute. 3Nor shall you show favoritism to a poor man in a dispute. 4If you see your enemy's ox or donkey wandering off, you shall surely bring it back to him. 5If you see the donkey of one who hates you fallen under his load, you shall surely help with him. 6Do not deny justice to the poor in his cause. 7Never charge anyone falsely; or put an innocent and righteous person to death; for I will not acquit the guilty. 8Never take a bribe; for the bribe blinds the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous. 9Also do not oppress a foreigner; for you know the heart of a foreigner, since you were foreigners in Egypt.

10For six years you shall sow your land, and gather its produce. 11But during the seventh year you shall let the land rest and lie unused; then the poor among you may eat from it; and the wild animals may eat what they leave. You shall do the same with your vineyard, and olive yard. 12Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day, you shall rest; so that your ox and donkey may rest, as well as the son of your handmaid, and the sojourner, and be refreshed. 13And in all these things that I have said to you, be circumspect. Never mention nor call upon the name of other gods, never let it be heard from your mouth. 14Three times in the year you shall keep feasts unto Me: 15You shall keep the Festival of Unleavened Bread, eating only unleavened bread for those seven days, as I commanded you, in the appointed time of the month Abib; for in it you came out from Egypt; and none shall appear before Me without an offering; 16And the Feast of Harvest, the first fruits of your labors, of what you have sown in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering, which is at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruits of your labors from the field. 17Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the LORD God. 18You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread; nor shall the fat of My sacrifice remain until the morning. 19The first of the fruits of your land you shall bring into the Temple of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

20Behold, I am sending an Angel before you, to guard you along the way, and bring you into the place I have prepared. 21Pay close attention to Him; obey and do not defy Him; for He will not pardon your rebellion; for My name is in Him. 22But if you obey His voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries. 23For My Angel shall go before you, and bring you in into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off before you. 24You shall not bow down to or worship their gods, nor do as they do; but you shall utterly overthrow them, and break down their images. 25You shall serve the LORD your God, and He shall bless your bread, and your water; and I will take sickness away from among you. 26Nothing shall miscarry their young, nor be barren, in your land: I will give you a full lifespan. 27I will send My terror before you, and will panic all the people whose lands you shall enter, and I will cause all your enemies to turn and run from you. 28And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before you. 29I will not drive them all out from before you in a single year; so that the land does not lie desolate, and the wild beasts multiply, infest and become a threat to you. 30Little by little I will drive them out from before you, as you increase and occupy the land. 31And I will set your boundary from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines (Mediterranean), and from the desert of Shur to the (Euphrates) river; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and you shall drive the occupants out before you. 32You shall make no treaty with any of them, nor with their gods. 33Do not let them remain in your land, so that they do not cause you to sin against Me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto you.’”
