1This is the account of the descendants of Esau, who is Edom. 2Esau took his wives from the Canaanite women: Adah, daughter of Elon the Hittite; Aholibamah, daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon, the Hivite; 3And Basemath, Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth. 4And Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz; and Basemath bore Reuel; 5And Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah: three sons of Esau, born to him in the land of Canaan.

6And Esau took his wives, sons, and daughters - all the persons of his household, his livestock, and all that he acquired in the land of Canaan; and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob, 7Because the land could not support all their livestock, living together. 8And so Esau settled in mount Seir, which is Edom.

9And this is a further account of family of Esau, the father of the Edomites in mount Seir: 10The names of Esau's sons were: Eliphaz, by Adah; and Reuel, by Basemath. 11And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz. 12And Eliphaz also had a concubine, Timna, who bore Amalek. These were Esau’s sons by the line of his wife, Adah. 13And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; these were Esau's sons by the his wife, Basemath. 14And these were Esau's sons by Aholibamah, daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.

15These were chiefs (dukes) of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz, the firstborn son of Esau; chief (duke) Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz, 16Chief Korah, chief Gatam, and chief Amalek: these are the chiefs (dukes) that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah. 17And these are the sons of Reuel, Esau's son; chief (duke) Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah: these are the chiefs (dukes) that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife. 18And these are the sons of Aholibamah, Esau's wife; chief (duke) Jeush, chief Jalam, chief Korah: these were the chiefs (dukes) that came of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife. 19These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their chiefs (dukes).

20These are the sons of Seir, the Horite (cave-dweller), who also inhabited that land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 21Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan: these are the chiefs (dukes) of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom. 22And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna. 23And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. 24And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah; this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the donkeys of Zibeon, his father. 25And the children of Anah were these: Dishon, and Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah. 26And these are the children of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran. 27The children of Ezer are these: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. 28The children of Dishan are these: Uz, and Aran. 29These are the chiefs (dukes) that came of the Horites: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah, 30Chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan; these are the chiefs (dukes) that came of Hori, among their chiefs in the land of Seir.

31And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before any Israelite king reigned over Israel: 32Bela, son of Beor, reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dinhabah. 33And Bela died, and Jobab, son of Zerah, of Bozrah, reigned in his stead. 34And Jobab died, and Husham, of the land of Temani, reigned in his stead. 35And Husham died, and Hadad, son of Bedad, who struck Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Avith. 36And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. 37And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead. 38And Saul died, and Baal-hanan, son of Achbor, reigned in his stead. 39And Baal-hanan, son of Achbor died, and Hadad reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

40These are the names of the chiefs (dukes) that descended from Esau, by their clans and their places, by their names: chief Timnah, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth, 41Chief Aholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon, 42Chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar, 43Chief Magdiel, chief Iram: these are the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied. Esau is the father of the Edomites.
