1And sometime later, both the butler and baker of the king of Egypt had offended the king. 2And Pharaoh was angry with them - the head of the butlers, and the head of the bakers. 3And he put them in prison in the custody of the captain of the guard, the prison where Joseph was held. 4And the captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he attended them: and they remained in prison for a season. 5And each of them had a dream in the same night, each with a different message for its dreamer - the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt. 6And when Joseph came to them in the morning, and looked at them, he saw that they were perplexed and dejected. 7And he asked them, “Why do you look so sad today?” 8And they told him, “We have each had a dream, but there is no one to interpret them for us.” And Joseph said to them, “Do interpretations not belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”

9And the chief butler related his dream to Joseph: “In my dream, I saw a vine before me; 10And the vine had three branches: and it so that as it budded, its blossoms shot forth; and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes: 11And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup to Pharaoh.” 12And Joseph told him, “This is what the dream means: The three branches are three days; 13Within three days shall Pharaoh lift up your head, and restore you to your place; and you shall again deliver Pharaoh's cup to him, as before when you were his butler. 14But when all this happens, remember me and show me kindness, I pray you, and mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this prison: 15For indeed I was kidnapped from my homeland of the Hebrews: and I have done nothing here that they should put me in the dungeon.”

16When the chief baker saw that the first interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also had a dream in which I had three white baskets on my head; 17And in the topmost basket there was all kinds of food for Pharaoh; and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.” 18And Joseph answered, “This is what that dream means: The three baskets are three days: 19Within three days Pharaoh shall lift up your head from you, and shall impale you on a tree; and the birds shall eat the flesh off of you.”

20And on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, he gave a feast for all his servants: and he summoned the chief butler and of the chief baker into the presence of his other servants. 21And he restored the chief butler to his butlership; so that he again delivered the cup into Pharaoh's hand: 22But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. 23But the chief butler did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.
