A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David

1I will exalt You, O LORD; for You have lifted me up, and have not allowed my foes to gloat over me. 2O LORD, my God, I cried unto You, and You have healed me. 3O LORD, You have brought my soul up from the grave; You have spared me the descent into that pit. 4Sing unto the LORD, O you who trust in Him, and give thanks as you reflect upon His holiness. 5For His anger endures but a moment; but His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes with the morning.

6When I prospered, I said, “I shall never be moved.” 7LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; but when You hid Your face, I was dismayed. 8I cried to You, O LORD, with my pleas. 9What is gained by my death; when I go down to the grave? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness? 10Hear, O LORD; and show me mercy; and be my helper. 11You have turned my mourning into dancing; You have replaced my mourning apparel, and clothed me with gladness; 12So that I cannot be silent, but glory in singing praise to You, O LORD my God; I will give thanks unto You forever.
