A Psalm or Song for the sons of Korah, on their return from the Babylonian captivity. Regarding the latter part of this psalm (vv 4b-7), see Isaiah 19 for more on this prophesy, where vv 19:16-25) is a prophesy of the reconciliation and redemption of Egypt, as well as Assyria, often Israel’s nemeses. “In that day” (verses 23 and 24) of Isaiah 19 refers to the time when Christ’s gospel reaches the people of these nations. 1He has founded His city in the holy mountains. 2The LORD loves the city of Jerusalem more than any other dwelling places of Jacob. 3Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God. Selah. 4I will list (make mention of) Rahab (Egypt - southern world power) and Babylon (northern world power) to them that know Me; behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia (Cush): this one was born there (a spiritual native of Zion). 5And of Zion it shall be said, “This and that man was born (reborn) in her”; and the Highest Himself shall establish her. 6The LORD shall record, when He registers the people, that this man was born there.
