Daniel did not use royal favor for personal advancement alone. Remembering the companions who had sought God with him when the mystery of the king’s dream meant death, Daniel appealed for their good. His intercession displayed gratitude, humility, and loyalty.

Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah received Babylonian names during their training in the royal court. Their elevation confirmed that God had preserved and honored the faithfulness of the Judean exiles. Their public service would soon lead to the test recorded in Daniel 3, when they would choose obedience to God over submission to idolatry.

to manage the province of Babylon,

Nebuchadnezzar entrusted Daniel’s friends with significant administrative authority in the empire’s central province. Like Joseph in Egypt, these covenant servants exercised wisdom and integrity within a pagan government. Their service also advanced the welfare of the place where God had sent His people into exile.

while Daniel remained in the king’s court.

Daniel served at the center of royal authority as Nebuchadnezzar’s trusted counselor. God placed him there to reveal His sovereignty to Babylonian rulers and to preserve His people during captivity. Daniel’s access to the king prepared him for further service through changing kingdoms, while his faithful life pointed beyond every earthly court to the perfect wisdom and intercession of Christ.
