God declared that Jeremiah’s life began in His purposeful design, not by accident or human will alone. The Lord who formed Adam from the dust also formed Jeremiah with intention, affirming His sovereign care over life in the womb (Psalm 139:13–16).

God’s knowledge of Jeremiah was personal, covenantal, and purposeful. Jeremiah did not exist before his conception, but God eternally knew him and ordained his place in the unfolding history of redemption.

Jeremiah was consecrated by God for a holy calling before he could perform any service or make any response. His appointment reflects Israel’s calling as a people set apart for the Lord and anticipates the calling of all believers to belong to God and serve His purposes (Ex. 19:5–6; 1 Pet. 2:9).

Jeremiah would proclaim God’s word not only to Judah but also concerning surrounding kingdoms and empires. His ministry announced both judgment and future restoration, revealing that the Lord rules over every nation. Jeremiah’s costly faithfulness amid rejection and suffering points forward to Christ, the final and perfect spokesman of God, whose message would be carried to all nations.
