Numbers 8:22
After that, the Levites came to perform their service at the Tent of Meeting in the presence of Aaron and his sons. Thus they did with the Levites just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
After that, the Levites came to perform their service

Having been cleansed, presented before the LORD, and assigned in place of Israel’s firstborn, the Levites began the work for which God had set them apart. Their ministry guarded the holiness of Israel’s worship and enabled the priests to carry out the sacrificial duties entrusted to Aaron’s house. Their consecrated service anticipates the calling of God’s people to belong wholly to Him and to serve Him in holiness.

at the Tent of Meeting

The Tent of Meeting was the appointed dwelling place of God’s presence among Israel in the wilderness. Every duty performed there involved reverence for the LORD who had chosen to dwell in the midst of His redeemed people. The Levites maintained the sanctuary, transported its furnishings, and assisted the priests so that Israel could approach God according to His command.

in the presence of Aaron and his sons.

Aaron and his sons served as the ordained priests, overseeing the Levites’ work and offering sacrifices before the LORD. The distinction between priests and Levites preserved the order God established for worship. Aaron’s high priesthood points forward to Jesus Christ, the final and perfect High Priest who brings His people near to God.

Thus they did with the Levites

Israel carried out the Levites’ appointment as God had directed. Their service did not arise from personal preference or tribal custom, but from the LORD’s covenant command. Faithful worship requires willing submission to the order and purposes God has revealed.

Lev 8:4-5 So Moses did as the LORD had commanded him,…

just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Moses acted as the LORD’s covenant mediator, faithfully communicating God’s instructions to the people. The repeated emphasis on obedience shows that the sanctuary and its servants were governed by God’s authority. Israel’s worship was acceptable because it was ordered according to His word.

Our Lord's Prayer for his People's Sanctification
In this wonderful prayer, our Lord, as our great High Priest, appears to enter upon that perpetual office of intercession which he is now exercising at the right hand of the Father. Our Lord ever seemed, in the eagerness of his love, to be anticipating his work. Before he was set apart for his life-work, by the descent of the Holy Ghost upon him, he must needs be about his Father's business; before he finally suffered at the hands of cruel men, he had a baptism to be baptized with, and he was straitened

1 John ii. 1.--"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,", &c. Christ Jesus came by water and by blood, not by water only, but by blood also, and I add, not by blood only but by water also, chap. v. 6. In sin there is the guilt binding over to punishment, and there is the filth or spot that defileth the soul in God's sight. To take away guilt, nothing so fit as blood for there is no punishment beyond blood, therefore

Numbers
Like the last part of Exodus, and the whole of Leviticus, the first part of Numbers, i.-x. 28--so called,[1] rather inappropriately, from the census in i., iii., (iv.), xxvi.--is unmistakably priestly in its interests and language. Beginning with a census of the men of war (i.) and the order of the camp (ii.), it devotes specific attention to the Levites, their numbers and duties (iii., iv.). Then follow laws for the exclusion of the unclean, v. 1-4, for determining the manner and amount of restitution
