The perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD,

God judges the inward person, where desires, motives, plans, and loyalties are formed. A heart bent toward deceit, rebellion, and moral corruption stands opposed to His holy character. Outward respectability cannot conceal what God sees within. Scripture repeatedly warns that the Lord examines the heart, as He did when He rejected Saul’s disobedience and chose David according to His purpose (1 Samuel 16:7). Such inward perversity is detestable because it rejects the God who made humanity to know Him and walk in His ways.

but the blameless in their walk are His delight.

Blamelessness describes integrity rather than sinless perfection. Those who fear the Lord repent when they sin, receive His correction, and pursue obedience in the ordinary course of life. Noah walked with God in a corrupt generation, and the Lord preserved him through judgment (Genesis 6:9). God delights in a life marked by faithful dependence on Him, not merely religious appearances. Through Christ, believers are forgiven and made able to walk in a manner pleasing to God.
