Faithfulness sprouts from the earth,

Restored people answer the Lord’s steadfast love with covenant obedience. Like new growth after rain, faithfulness appears where God has renewed hearts and blessed the land. The image joins humanity, formed from the ground, to God’s saving work; His grace produces the allegiance He requires. Hosea likewise calls God’s people to sow righteousness in hope of reaping His steadfast love.

Perfect righteousness belongs to the Lord and comes from His heavenly rule as blessing, judgment, and help. Heaven’s righteousness and earth’s faithfulness meet ultimately in Christ, who came from heaven to fulfill God’s promises and bring His people into reconciliation with God.
