Measuring Line

In Amos 7:7-8, the Lord shows the prophet a vision of a plumb line: "This is what He showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb, with a plumb line in His hand. 'What do you see, Amos?' He asked. 'A plumb line,' I replied. Then the Lord said, 'Behold, I am setting a plumb line among My people Israel; I will no longer spare them.'" The plumb line here represents God's examination of Israel's faithfulness and the impending judgment due to their deviation from His standards.
