Ambassadors for Christ

Believers are described as ambassadors for Christ, tasked with representing Him and His message to the world. In 2 Corinthians 5:20 , Paul writes, "Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God." This role involves sharing the gospel and living in a way that reflects the character and love of Christ.

Salt and Light

Jesus uses the metaphors of salt and light to describe the influence believers should have in the world. In Matthew 5:13-16 , He states, "You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." Believers are called to preserve the truth and illuminate the darkness with the light of Christ, demonstrating His love and truth through their actions and words.

Priesthood of All Believers

The New Testament introduces the concept of the priesthood of all believers, indicating that every Christian has direct access to God and a role in ministering to others. 1 Peter 2:9 declares, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." Believers are entrusted with various gifts and resources, which they are called to steward faithfully. 1 Peter 4:10 instructs, "As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another." This stewardship includes spiritual gifts, time, talents, and material resources, all to be used for the glory of God and the edification of the church.

Perseverance and Faithfulness

Believers are encouraged to persevere in their faith and remain faithful to the end. Hebrews 12:1-2 exhorts, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith."
