His reign is marked by a heart that sought after God, as seen in 1 Samuel 13:14, where the Lord describes him as "a man after His own heart." David's leadership brought unity to the tribes of Israel and established Jerusalem as the political and spiritual center of the nation. 2. King Solomon: Solomon, David's son, is another example of a righteous king, particularly in the early years of his reign. Isaiah 9:6-7 speaks of this future king: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore."
