Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
(Matthew 12:9–14; Luke 6:6–11)

1And He went another time into a synagogue, where there was a man that had a withered hand: 2and they watched Him, whether He would heal him on the sabbath-day, that they might accuse Him. 3And He said to the man, that had the withered hand, Rise up into the midst: 4then saith He to them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? but they were silent. 5And when He had looked round upon them with indignation, being grieved at the hardness of their hearts, He saith to the man, Stretch out thine hand: and he stretched it out, and his hand was made as sound as the other. 6And the pharisees went out, and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against Him, how to destroy Him:

Jesus Heals the Multitudes
(Matthew 4:23–25; Luke 6:17–19)

7but Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea. 8And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, and from Judea, and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and from beyond Jordan; and those about Tyre and Sidon, a great number, hearing how great things He did, came unto Him. 9Therefore He spake to his disciples, that there might be a small vessel attending Him, because of the multitude, least they should throng Him: for He had healed many, 10so that whoever had any maladies, crouded upon Him to touch Him. 11And impure spirits, when they saw Him, fell down before Him, and cried out, saying, Thou art the Son of God: 12but He strictly charged them not to make Him known.

The Twelve Apostles
(Matthew 10:1–4; Luke 6:12–16)

13Then going up into a mountain, He calleth for such as He saw fit, and they came to Him: 14and He appointed twelve to be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach the gospel, 15and to have power to heal diseases, and to cast out demons; 16even Simon, whom He surnamed Peter, 17and James the Son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, (and He surnamed them Boanerges, which is to say, Sons of thunder,) and Andrew, 18and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, 19and Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, even him who betrayed Him.

A House Divided
(Matthew 12:22–30; Luke 11:14–23)

20And they went into a house, and the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat. 21And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on Him; for they said He spends Himself too much. 22And the scribes that came down from Jerusalem said, He is in league with Beelzebub, and casts out demons by the help of the prince of demons. 23So He called them to Him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 24If a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand: 25and if a family be divided against itself, that family cannot stand: and if Satan oppose himself and be divided, 26he cannot stand, but his kingdom is at an end. 27No one can enter into the house of a strong man, and plunder his goods; unless he first bind the strong man, and then he may pillage his house.

The Unpardonable Sin
(Matthew 12:31–32)

28Verily I tell you, that all sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith they may blaspheme: 29but whosoever blasphemeth against the holy Ghost never hath forgiveness, but is liable to eternal damnation: 30for they said, He hath an impure spirit.

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
(Matthew 12:46–50; Luke 8:19–21)

31So his brethren and his mother came, and standing without sent to Him to call Him to them: 32and there was a multitude sitting about Him, and they said to Him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren are without inquiring for thee. 33And He answered them, and said, Who is my mother, or my brethren? 34And looking round on those that sat about Him, He said, Behold my mother, and my brethren: 35for whosoever doth the will of God, he is to me as my brother, my sister, and mother.
