I Have Stilled My Soul

שִׁ֥יר (A Song) הַֽמַּֽעֲל֗וֹת (of the Ascents). לְדָ֫וִ֥ד (Of David).

1יְהוָ֤ה׀ (O YHWH), לֹא־ (not) גָבַ֣הּ (is exalted) לִ֭בִּי (my heart),

וְלֹא־ (and not) רָמ֣וּ (are raised up) עֵינַ֑י (my eyes),

וְלֹֽא־ (and not) הִלַּ֓כְתִּי׀ (have I gone about) בִּגְדֹל֖וֹת (in great things)

וּבְנִפְלָא֣וֹת (and in marvelous things) מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ (beyond me).

2  אִם־ (If) לֹ֤א (not) שִׁוִּ֨יתִי׀ (I have stilled) וְדוֹמַ֗מְתִּי (and quieted) נַ֫פְשִׁ֥י (my soul),

כְּ֭גָמֻל (like a weaned child) עֲלֵ֣י (with) אִמּ֑וֹ (his mother)?

כַּגָּמֻ֖ל (Like a weaned child) עָלַ֣י (within me) נַפְשִֽׁי׃ (is my soul).

3  יַחֵ֣ל (Look with hope), יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל (O Israel), אֶל־ (unto) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH),

מֵֽ֝עַתָּ֗ה (from now) וְעַד־ (even to) עוֹלָֽם׃ (forever).
