Tribute to Ahasuerus and Mordecai

1And King Ahasuerus set tribute upon the land and the islands of the sea.

2And all the work of his power and his strength, and the account of the greatness of Mordecai by which the king made him great, are they not written in the Book of the Words of the Days of the Kings of Media and Persia? 3For Mordecai the Jew was second to King Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews and was favored by the multitude of his brothers, seeking good for his people and speaking peace to all his seed.

Footnotes:

3 Or Judean; The term is not limited to the ancestral tribe of Judah, but refers more broadly to the exilic/post-exilic people dispersed throughout the Persian Empire
