| 1For the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their acts are vile. There is no one who does good. | 1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. |
| 2The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God. | 2The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. |
| 3All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. | 3They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. |
| 4Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They devour my people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD. | 4Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. |
| 5There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is in the company of the righteous. | 5There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. |
| 6You sinners frustrate the plans of the oppressed, yet the LORD is their shelter. | 6Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge. |
| 7Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad! | 7Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. |
