For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him. | 1For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress; I will never be shaken. | 2Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. |
How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you throw him down like a leaning wall or a tottering fence? | 3How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down-- this leaning wall, this tottering fence? |
They fully intend to cast him down from his lofty perch; they delight in lies; with their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. Selah | 4Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. |
Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him. | 5Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken. | 6Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. |
My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God. | 7My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. |
Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah | 8Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. |
Lowborn men are but a vapor, the exalted but a lie. Weighed on the scale, they go up; together they are but a vapor. | 9Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. |
Place no trust in extortion, or false hope in stolen goods. If your riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. | 10Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them. |
God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God, | 11One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: "Power belongs to you, God, |
and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds. | 12and with you, Lord, is unfailing love"; and, "You reward everyone according to what they have done." |
