Berean Study Bible | New Living Translation |
Of David. A Maskil. Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. | 1Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! |
Blessed is the man whose iniquity the LORD does not count against him, in whose spirit there is no deceit. | 2Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! |
When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long. | 3When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. |
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was drained as in the summer heat. Selah | 4Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude |
Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah | 5Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude |
Therefore let all the godly pray to You while You may be found. Surely when great waters rise, they will not come near. | 6Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. |
You are my hiding place. You protect me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah | 7For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude |
I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you. | 8The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. |
Do not be like the horse or mule, which have no understanding; they must be controlled with bit and bridle to make them come to you. | 9Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.” |
Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but loving devotion surrounds him who trusts in the LORD. | 10Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the LORD. |
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright in heart. | 11So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure! |
