| 2Dominion and dread belong to him, the one who establishes harmony in his heights. | 2"Dominion and fear belong to God; who fashions peace in his high heaven. |
| 3Can his troops be numbered? Does his light not shine on everyone? | 3Is there any limit to his armies? On whom does his light not shine? |
| 4How can a human be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure? | 4How can a human being become right with God? How can a human being be pure? |
| 5If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in his sight, | 5Behold, even the moon isn't bright, and the stars aren't pure in his eyes. |
| 6how much less a human, who is a maggot, a son of man, who is a worm! | 6How much less is man, who is only a maggot, or a man's children, who are only worms!" |
