Isaiah 6
ESV Parallel HCSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.1In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, and His robe filled the temple.
Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.2Seraphim were standing above Him; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”3And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth.
And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.4The foundations of the doorways shook at the sound of their voices, and the temple was filled with smoke.
And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”5Then I said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of Hosts.
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar.6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was a glowing coal that he had taken from the altar with tongs.
And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”7He touched my mouth with it and said: Now that this has touched your lips, your wickedness is removed and your sin is atoned for.
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”8Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for Us? I said: Here I am. Send me.
And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’9And He replied: Go! Say to these people: Keep listening, but do not understand; keep looking, but do not perceive.
Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”10Dull the minds of these people; deafen their ears and blind their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their minds, turn back, and be healed.
Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said: “Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is a desolate waste,11Then I said, "Until when, Lord?" And He replied: Until cities lie in ruins without inhabitants, houses are without people, the land is ruined and desolate,
and the LORD removes people far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.12and the LORD drives the people far away, leaving great emptiness in the land.
And though a tenth remain in it, it will be burned again, like a terebinth or an oak, whose stump remains when it is felled.” The holy seed is its stump.13Though a tenth will remain in the land, it will be burned again. Like the terebinth or the oak that leaves a stump when felled, the holy seed is the stump.
