English Standard VersionInternational Standard Version
Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.1Hallelujah! It is good to sing praise to our God, and it is fitting to sing glorious praise.
The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel.2The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; he gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.3He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their injuries.
He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names.4He keeps track of the number of stars, assigning names to all of them.
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.5Our Lord is great, and rich in power; his understanding has no limitation.
The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground.6The LORD supports the afflicted while he casts the wicked to the ground.
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre!7Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving, and compose music to our God with the lyre.
He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills.8He shields the heavens with clouds, preparing rain for the earth and making grass grow on the hills.
He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry.9He gives wild animals their food, including the young ravens when they cry.
His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,10He takes no delight in the strength of a horse, and gains no pleasure in the runner's swiftness.
but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.11But the LORD is pleased with those who fear him, with those who depend on his gracious love.
Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!12Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem! Praise your God, Zion!
For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your children within you.13For he has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessing your children within you.
He makes peace in your borders; he fills you with the finest of the wheat.14He grants peace within your borders, satisfying you with the finest of wheat.
He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.15He sends out his command to the earth, making his word go forth quickly.
He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes.16He supplies snow like wool, scattering frost like ashes.
He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before his cold?17He casts down his ice crystals like bread fragments. Who can endure his freezing cold?
He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow and the waters flow.18He sends out his word and melts them. He makes his wind blow and the water flows.
He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and rules to Israel.19He declares his words to Jacob, his statutes and decrees to Israel.
He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his rules. Praise the LORD!20He has not dealt with any other nation like this; they never knew his decrees. Hallelujah!
