English Standard Version | NET Bible |
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. | 1For the music director; by David. Fools say to themselves, "There is no God." They sin and commit evil deeds; none of them does what is right. |

They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. | 3Everyone rejects God; they are all morally corrupt. None of them does what is right, not even one! |
Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD? | 4All those who behave wickedly do not understand--those who devour my people as if they were eating bread, and do not call out to the LORD. |
There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. | 5They are absolutely terrified, for God defends the godly. |
You would shame the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge. | 6You want to humiliate the oppressed, even though the LORD is their shelter. |
Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. | 7I wish the deliverance of Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores the well-being of his people, may Jacob rejoice, may Israel be happy! |
