International Standard Version | Berean Study Bible |
Then the LORD told me: "Go love your wife again, even though she is being loved by another and is committing adultery. Love her the same way the LORD loves the people of Israel, even though they look to other gods and love raisin cakes." | 1Then the LORD said to me, “Go show love to your wife again, though she is loved by another and is an adulteress. Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and offer raisin cakes to idols.” |
So I bought her back for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and one and a half omers of barley. | 2So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a homer and a lethech of barley. |
I told her, "You will remain with me a long time, you won't be promiscuous, you won't be involved with any man, and I'll do the same." | 3Then I said to her, “You must live with me for many days; you must not be promiscuous or belong to another, and I will do the same for you.” |
Likewise, the people of Israel will dwell a long time without a king, without a prince, without sacrifice, without sacred pillars, and with neither ephod nor teraphim. | 4For the Israelites must live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, and without ephod or idol. |
Afterward, the people of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come in awe to the LORD and to his goodness in the last days. | 5Afterward, the people of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days. |
