| 2He flatters himself too much to discover his transgression and hate it. | 2for in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to discover and hate his sin. |
| 3The words from his mouth are vain and deceptive. He has abandoned behaving wisely and doing good. | 3The words of his mouth are malicious and deceptive; he has stopped acting wisely and doing good. |
| 4He devises iniquity on his bed and is determined to follow a path that is not good. He does not resist evil. | 4Even on his bed he makes malicious plans. He sets himself on a path that is not good and does not reject evil. |
| 5Your gracious love, LORD, reaches to the heavens; your truth extends to the skies. | 5 LORD, Your faithful love reaches to heaven, Your faithfulness to the clouds. |
| 6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your justice is like the great depths of the sea. You deliver both people and animals, LORD. | 6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments, like the deepest sea. LORD, You preserve man and beast. |
