Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;2The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:5These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans,
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.6but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.7And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.
Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,9Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts,
Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.10no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food.
And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.11And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart.
And when ye come into an house, salute it.12As you enter the house, greet it.
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.13And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.14And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town.
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.15Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.16“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;17Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues,
And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.18and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles.
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.19When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour.
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.20For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.21Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death,
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.22and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.23When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.24“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?25It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.26“So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.
What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.27What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.28And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.30But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.31Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.32So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven,
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.33but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.34“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.35For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.36And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household.
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.37Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.38And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.40“Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.41The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.42And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
