To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?1For the choir director. Davidic. I have taken refuge in the LORD. How can you say to me," Escape to the mountain like a bird!
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.2For look, the wicked string the bow; they put the arrow on the bowstring to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?3When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?"
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.4The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD's throne is in heaven. His eyes watch; He examines everyone.
The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.5The LORD examines the righteous and the wicked. He hates the lover of violence.
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.6He will rain burning coals and sulfur on the wicked; a scorching wind will be their portion.
For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.7For the LORD is righteous; He loves righteous deeds. The upright will see His face.
