King James Bible | International Standard Version |
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? | 1I take refuge in the LORD. So how can you say to me, "Flee like a bird to the mountains."? |
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. | 2Look, the wicked have bent their bow and placed their arrow on the string, to shoot from the darkness at the upright in heart. |
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? | 3When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? |
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. | 4The LORD is in his holy Temple; the LORD's throne is in the heavens. His eyes see, his glance examines humanity. |
The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. | 5The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence, he hates. |
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. | 6He rains on the wicked burning coals and sulfur; a scorching wind is their destiny. |
For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. | 7Indeed, the LORD is righteous; he loves righteousness; the upright will see him face-to-face. |
