And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. | 1Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the abyss and a great chain in his hand. |
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, | 2He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for 1,000 years. |
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. | 3He threw him into the abyss, closed it, and put a seal on it so that he would no longer deceive the nations until the 1,000 years were completed. After that, he must be released for a short time. |
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. | 4Then I saw thrones, and people seated on them who were given authority to judge. I also saw the people who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of God's word, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and who had not accepted the mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with the Messiah for 1,000 years. |
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. | 5The rest of the dead did not come to life until the 1,000 years were completed. This is the first resurrection. |
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. | 6Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of the Messiah, and they will reign with Him for 1,000 years. |
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, | 7When the 1,000 years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison |
And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. | 8and will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the sea. |
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. | 9They came up over the surface of the earth and surrounded the encampment of the saints, the beloved city. Then fire came down from heaven and consumed them. |
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. | 10The Devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. |
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. | 11Then I saw a great white throne and One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. |
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. | 12I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works by what was written in the books. |
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. | 13Then the sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead; all were judged according to their works. |
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. | 14Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. |
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. | 15And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. |
