At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. | 1"At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place. |
Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. | 2"Listen closely to the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth. |
He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth. | 3"Under the whole heaven He lets it loose, And His lightning to the ends of the earth. |
After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard. | 4"After it, a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain the lightnings when His voice is heard. |
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. | 5"God thunders with His voice wondrously, Doing great things which we cannot comprehend. |
For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. | 6"For to the snow He says, 'Fall on the earth,' And to the downpour and the rain, 'Be strong.' |
He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work. | 7"He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work. |
Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places. | 8"Then the beast goes into its lair And remains in its den. |
Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. | 9"Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold. |
By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. | 10"From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen. |
Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: | 11"Also with moisture He loads the thick cloud; He disperses the cloud of His lightning. |
And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth. | 12"It changes direction, turning around by His guidance, That it may do whatever He commands it On the face of the inhabited earth. |
He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy. | 13"Whether for correction, or for His world, Or for lovingkindness, He causes it to happen. |
Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. | 14"Listen to this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God. |
Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? | 15"Do you know how God establishes them, And makes the lightning of His cloud to shine? |
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? | 16"Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds, The wonders of one perfect in knowledge, |
How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind? | 17You whose garments are hot, When the land is still because of the south wind? |
Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? | 18"Can you, with Him, spread out the skies, Strong as a molten mirror? |
Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. | 19"Teach us what we shall say to Him; We cannot arrange our case because of darkness. |
Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up. | 20"Shall it be told Him that I would speak? Or should a man say that he would be swallowed up? |
And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. | 21"Now men do not see the light which is bright in the skies; But the wind has passed and cleared them. |
Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty. | 22"Out of the north comes golden splendor; Around God is awesome majesty. |
Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. | 23"The Almighty-- we cannot find Him; He is exalted in power And He will not do violence to justice and abundant righteousness. |
Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. | 24"Therefore men fear Him; He does not regard any who are wise of heart." |
