| 1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, | 1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered: |
| 2Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. | 2"Dominion and awesome might belong to God; he establishes peace in his heights. |
| 3Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? | 3Can his armies be numbered? On whom does his light not rise? |
| 4How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? | 4How then can a human being be righteous before God? How can one born of a woman be pure? |
| 5Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. | 5If even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure as far as he is concerned, |
| 6How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? | 6how much less a mortal man, who is but a maggot--a son of man, who is only a worm!" |
