King James Bible | New Living Translation |
And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. | 1Then I looked up again and saw four chariots coming from between two bronze mountains. |
In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; | 2The first chariot was pulled by red horses, the second by black horses, |
And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. | 3the third by white horses, and the fourth by powerful dappled-gray horses. |
Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord? | 4“And what are these, my lord?” I asked the angel who was talking with me. |
And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. | 5The angel replied, “These are the four spirits of heaven who stand before the Lord of all the earth. They are going out to do his work. |
The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country. | 6The chariot with black horses is going north, the chariot with white horses is going west, and the chariot with dappled-gray horses is going south.” |
And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. | 7The powerful horses were eager to set out to patrol the earth. And the LORD said, “Go and patrol the earth!” So they left at once on their patrol. |
Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country. | 8Then the LORD summoned me and said, “Look, those who went north have vented the anger of my Spirit there in the land of the north.” The Crowning of Jeshua |
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | 9Then I received another message from the LORD: |
Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah; | 10“Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah will bring gifts of silver and gold from the Jews exiled in Babylon. As soon as they arrive, meet them at the home of Josiah son of Zephaniah. |
Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest; | 11Accept their gifts, and make a crown from the silver and gold. Then put the crown on the head of Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. |
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: | 12Tell him, ‘This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Here is the man called the Branch. He will branch out from where he is and build the Temple of the LORD. |
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. | 13Yes, he will build the Temple of the LORD. Then he will receive royal honor and will rule as king from his throne. He will also serve as priest from his throne, and there will be perfect harmony between his two roles.’ |
And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD. | 14“The crown will be a memorial in the Temple of the LORD to honor those who gave it—Heldai, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Josiah son of Zephaniah.” |
And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God. | 15People will come from distant lands to rebuild the Temple of the LORD. And when this happens, you will know that my messages have been from the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. All this will happen if you carefully obey what the LORD your God says. |
