He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there whose hand was withered.1Jesus entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a shriveled hand.
They were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.2In order to accuse him, they were watching him closely to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath.
He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and come forward!"3He told the man with the shriveled hand, "Stand before us."
And He said to them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent.4Then he said to them, "Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they were silent.
After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.5After looking around at them with anger, he was grieved at the hardness of their hearts and told the man, "Stretch out your hand." So he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
The Pharisees went out and immediately began conspiring with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.6Immediately the Pharisees went out and started plotting with the Herodians against him, how they might kill him.
Jesus withdrew to the sea with His disciples; and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and also from Judea,7Jesus departed with his disciples to the sea, and a large crowd followed from Galilee, and a large crowd followed from Judea,
and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon, a great number of people heard of all that He was doing and came to Him.8Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and around Tyre and Sidon. The large crowd came to him because they heard about everything he was doing.
And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him;9Then he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, so that the crowd wouldn't crush him.
for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him.10Since he had healed many, all who had diseases were pressing toward him to touch him.
Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, "You are the Son of God!"11Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God!"
And He earnestly warned them not to tell who He was.12And he would strongly warn them not to make him known.
And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him.13Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those he wanted, and they came to him.
And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach,14He appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles, to be with him, to send them out to preach,
and to have authority to cast out the demons.15and to have authority to drive out demons.
And He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter),16He appointed the Twelve: To Simon, he gave the name Peter;
and James, the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means, "Sons of Thunder ");17and to James the son of Zebedee, and to his brother John, he gave the name "Boanerges" (that is, "Sons of Thunder");
and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot;18Andrew; Philip and Bartholomew; Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot,
and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.19and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
And He came home, and the crowd gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat a meal.20Jesus entered a house, and the crowd gathered again so that they were not even able to eat.
When His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, "He has lost His senses."21When his family heard this, they set out to restrain him, because they said, "He's out of his mind."
The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons."22The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and, "He drives out demons by the ruler of the demons."
And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan?23So he summoned them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan?
"If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
"If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.25If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
"If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!26And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is finished.
"But no one can enter the strong man's house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.27But no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house.
"Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;28"Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies they utter.
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin "--29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" --
because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."30because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."
Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him.31His mother and his brothers came, and standing outside, they sent word to him and called him.
A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You."32A crowd was sitting around him and told him, "Look, your mother, your brothers, and your sisters are outside asking for you."
Answering them, He said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?"33He replied to them, "Who are my mother and my brothers?"
Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers!34Looking at those sitting in a circle around him, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers!
"For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother."35Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother."
