The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's.1The Song of Songs, which is Solomon’s.
"May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine.2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine;
"Your oils have a pleasing fragrance, Your name is like purified oil; Therefore the maidens love you.3your anointing oils are fragrant; your name is oil poured out; therefore virgins love you.
"Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers." "We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you."4Draw me after you; let us run. The king has brought me into his chambers. Others We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you.
"I am black but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, Like the tents of Kedar, Like the curtains of Solomon.5I am very dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon.
"Do not stare at me because I am swarthy, For the sun has burned me. My mother's sons were angry with me; They made me caretaker of the vineyards, But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.6Do not gaze at me because I am dark, because the sun has looked upon me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept!
"Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, Where do you pasture your flock, Where do you make it lie down at noon? For why should I be like one who veils herself Beside the flocks of your companions?"7Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it lie down at noon; for why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?
"If you yourself do not know, Most beautiful among women, Go forth on the trail of the flock And pasture your young goats By the tents of the shepherds.8If you do not know, O most beautiful among women, follow in the tracks of the flock, and pasture your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents.
"To me, my darling, you are like My mare among the chariots of Pharaoh.9I compare you, my love, to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariots.
"Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, Your neck with strings of beads."10Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels.
"We will make for you ornaments of gold With beads of silver."11We will make for you ornaments of gold, studded with silver.
"While the king was at his table, My perfume gave forth its fragrance.12While the king was on his couch, my nard gave forth its fragrance.
"My beloved is to me a pouch of myrrh Which lies all night between my breasts.13My beloved is to me a sachet of myrrh that lies between my breasts.
"My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms In the vineyards of Engedi."14My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Engedi.
"How beautiful you are, my darling, How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves."15Behold, you are beautiful, my love; behold, you are beautiful; your eyes are doves.
"How handsome you are, my beloved, And so pleasant! Indeed, our couch is luxuriant!16Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved, truly delightful. Our couch is green;
"The beams of our houses are cedars, Our rafters, cypresses.17the beams of our house are cedar; our rafters are pine.
