Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus:1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God's will: To the faithful saints in Christ Jesus at Ephesus.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,3Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens.
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love4For He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love
He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,5He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will,
to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.6to the praise of His glorious grace that He favored us with in the Beloved.
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace7We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight8that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him9He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure that He planned in Him
with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him10for the administration of the days of fulfillment--to bring everything together in the Messiah, both things in heaven and things on earth in Him.
also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,11We have also received an inheritance in Him, predestined according to the purpose of the One who works out everything in agreement with the decision of His will,
to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory.12so that we who had already put our hope in the Messiah might bring praise to His glory.
In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,13When you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed in Him, you were also sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.
who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.14He is the down payment of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession, to the praise of His glory.
For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints,15This is why, since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers;16I never stop giving thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers.
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.17I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,18I pray that the perception of your mind may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints,
and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might19and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength.
which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,20He demonstrated this power in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens--
far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.21far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,22And He put everything under His feet and appointed Him as head over everything for the church,
which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.23which is His body, the fullness of the One who fills all things in every way.
