For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. | 1For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. A Davidic psalm. I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken. | 2He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be shaken. |
How long will you assail a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence? | 3How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you attack as if he were a leaning wall or a tottering stone fence? |
They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah. | 4They only plan to bring him down from his high position. They take pleasure in lying; they bless with their mouths, but they curse inwardly. Selah |
My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. | 5Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. | 6He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken. |
On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. | 7My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. |
Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. | 8Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah |
Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath. | 9Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion. Weighed in the scales, they go up; together they are less than a vapor. |
Do not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. | 10Place no trust in oppression, or false hope in robbery. If wealth increases, pay no attention to it. |
Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God; | 11God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: strength belongs to God, |
And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work. | 12and faithful love belongs to You, LORD. For You repay each according to his works. |
