A Song of Ascents. When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion, We were like those who dream. | 1A Song of degrees. When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. |
Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." | 2Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. |
The LORD has done great things for us; We are glad. | 3The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. |
Restore our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South. | 4Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. |
Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. | 5They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. |
He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. | 6He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. |
