Numbers 30
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
Then Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the sons of Israel, saying, "This is the word which the LORD has commanded.1Moses said to the heads of the tribes of Israel: "This is what the LORD commands:
"If a man makes a vow to the LORD, or takes an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.2When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.
"Also if a woman makes a vow to the LORD, and binds herself by an obligation in her father's house in her youth,3"When a young woman still living in her father's household makes a vow to the LORD or obligates herself by a pledge
and her father hears her vow and her obligation by which she has bound herself, and her father says nothing to her, then all her vows shall stand and every obligation by which she has bound herself shall stand.4and her father hears about her vow or pledge but says nothing to her, then all her vows and every pledge by which she obligated herself will stand.
"But if her father should forbid her on the day he hears of it, none of her vows or her obligations by which she has bound herself shall stand; and the LORD will forgive her because her father had forbidden her.5But if her father forbids her when he hears about it, none of her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand; the LORD will release her because her father has forbidden her.
"However, if she should marry while under her vows or the rash statement of her lips by which she has bound herself,6"If she marries after she makes a vow or after her lips utter a rash promise by which she obligates herself
and her husband hears of it and says nothing to her on the day he hears it, then her vows shall stand and her obligations by which she has bound herself shall stand.7and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her, then her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand.
"But if on the day her husband hears of it, he forbids her, then he shall annul her vow which she is under and the rash statement of her lips by which she has bound herself; and the LORD will forgive her.8But if her husband forbids her when he hears about it, he nullifies the vow that obligates her or the rash promise by which she obligates herself, and the LORD will release her.
"But the vow of a widow or of a divorced woman, everything by which she has bound herself, shall stand against her.9"Any vow or obligation taken by a widow or divorced woman will be binding on her.
"However, if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound herself by an obligation with an oath,10"If a woman living with her husband makes a vow or obligates herself by a pledge under oath
and her husband heard it, but said nothing to her and did not forbid her, then all her vows shall stand and every obligation by which she bound herself shall stand.11and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her and does not forbid her, then all her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand.
"But if her husband indeed annuls them on the day he hears them, then whatever proceeds out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning the obligation of herself shall not stand; her husband has annulled them, and the LORD will forgive her.12But if her husband nullifies them when he hears about them, then none of the vows or pledges that came from her lips will stand. Her husband has nullified them, and the LORD will release her.
"Every vow and every binding oath to humble herself, her husband may confirm it or her husband may annul it.13Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow she makes or any sworn pledge to deny herself.
"But if her husband indeed says nothing to her from day to day, then he confirms all her vows or all her obligations which are on her; he has confirmed them, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard them.14But if her husband says nothing to her about it from day to day, then he confirms all her vows or the pledges binding on her. He confirms them by saying nothing to her when he hears about them.
"But if he indeed annuls them after he has heard them, then he shall bear her guilt."15If, however, he nullifies them some time after he hears about them, then he must bear the consequences of her wrongdoing."
These are the statutes which the LORD commanded Moses, as between a man and his wife, and as between a father and his daughter, while she is in her youth in her father's house.16These are the regulations the LORD gave Moses concerning relationships between a man and his wife, and between a father and his young daughter still living at home.
