New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
"Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued. | 1“At that time Michael, the archangel who stands guard over your nation, will arise. Then there will be a time of anguish greater than any since nations first came into existence. But at that time every one of your people whose name is written in the book will be rescued. |
"Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. | 2Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace. |
"Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. | 3Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever. |
"But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." | 4But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.” |
Then I, Daniel, looked and behold, two others were standing, one on this bank of the river and the other on that bank of the river. | 5Then I, Daniel, looked and saw two others standing on opposite banks of the river. |
And one said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long will it be until the end of these wonders?" | 6One of them asked the man dressed in linen, who was now standing above the river, “How long will it be until these shocking events are over?” |
I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, as he raised his right hand and his left toward heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time; and as soon as they finish shattering the power of the holy people, all these events will be completed. | 7The man dressed in linen, who was standing above the river, raised both his hands toward heaven and took a solemn oath by the One who lives forever, saying, “It will go on for a time, times, and half a time. When the shattering of the holy people has finally come to an end, all these things will have happened.” |
As for me, I heard but could not understand; so I said, "My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?" | 8I heard what he said, but I did not understand what he meant. So I asked, “How will all this finally end, my lord?” |
He said, "Go your way, Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. | 9But he said, “Go now, Daniel, for what I have said is kept secret and sealed until the time of the end. |
"Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. | 10Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means. |
"From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. | 11“From the time the daily sacrifice is stopped and the sacrilegious object that causes desecration is set up to be worshiped, there will be 1,290 days. |
"How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1,335 days! | 12And blessed are those who wait and remain until the end of the 1,335 days! |
"But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age." | 13“As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.” |
