A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 1The LORD is my shepherd; I have what I need.
He takes me to lush pastures, he leads me to refreshing water. 2He lets me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my strength. He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation. 3He renews my life; he leads me along the right paths for his name's sake.
Even when I must walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff reassure me. 4Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff--they comfort me.
You prepare a feast before me in plain sight of my enemies. You refresh my head with oil; my cup is completely full. 5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days, and I will live in the LORD's house for the rest of my life. 6Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD as long as I live.
