Psalm 52
NET Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew International Version
1For the music director; a well-written song by David. It was written when Doeg the Edomite went and informed Saul: "David has arrived at the home of Ahimelech." Why do you boast about your evil plans, O powerful man? God's loyal love protects me all day long! 1For the director of music. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite had gone to Saul and told him: "David has gone to the house of Ahimelek." Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
2Your tongue carries out your destructive plans; it is as effective as a sharp razor, O deceiver. 2You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.
3You love evil more than good, lies more than speaking the truth. (Selah) 3You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
4You love to use all the words that destroy, and the tongue that deceives. 4You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!
5Yet God will make you a permanent heap of ruins. He will scoop you up and remove you from your home; he will uproot you from the land of the living. (Selah) 5Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living.
6When the godly see this, they will be filled with awe, and will mock the evildoer, saying: 6The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying,
7"Look, here is the man who would not make God his protector! He trusted in his great wealth and was confident about his plans to destroy others." 7"Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!"
8But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I continually trust in God's loyal love. 8But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever.
9I will continually thank you when you execute judgment; I will rely on you, for your loyal followers know you are good. 9For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good.
