For the music director; a psalm of David. May the LORD answer you when you are in trouble; may the God of Jacob make you secure! | 1In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. |
May he send you help from his temple; from Zion may he give you support! | 2May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem. |
May he take notice of your offerings; may he accept your burnt sacrifice! (Selah) | 3May he remember all your gifts and look favorably on your burnt offerings. Interlude |
May he grant your heart's desire; may he bring all your plans to pass! | 4May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed. |
Then we will shout for joy over your victory; we will rejoice in the name of our God! May the LORD grant all your requests! | 5May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the LORD answer all your prayers. |
Now I am sure that the LORD will deliver his chosen king; he will intervene for him from his holy heavenly temple, and display his mighty ability to deliver. | 6Now I know that the LORD rescues his anointed king. He will answer him from his holy heaven and rescue him by his great power. |
Some trust in chariots and others in horses, but we depend on the LORD our God. | 7Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the LORD our God. |
They will fall down, but we will stand firm. | 8Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm. |
The LORD will deliver the king; he will answer us when we call to him for help! | 9Give victory to our king, O LORD! Answer our cry for help. |
