New International Version | English Standard Version |
Of David. To you, LORD, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. | 1To you, O LORD, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. |
Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. | 2Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary. |
Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts. | 3Do not drag me off with the wicked, with the workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts. |
Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back on them what they deserve. | 4Give to them according to their work and according to the evil of their deeds; give to them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward. |
Because they have no regard for the deeds of the LORD and what his hands have done, he will tear them down and never build them up again. | 5Because they do not regard the works of the LORD or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and build them up no more. |
Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. | 6Blessed be the LORD! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. |
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. | 7The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. |
The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. | 8The LORD is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. |
Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. | 9Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever. |
