New International Version | NET Bible |
Of David. To you, LORD, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. | 1By David. To you, O LORD, I cry out! My protector, do not ignore me! If you do not respond to me, I will join those who are descending into the grave. |
Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. | 2Hear my plea for mercy when I cry out to you for help, when I lift my hands toward your holy temple! |
Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts. | 3Do not drag me away with evil men, with those who behave wickedly, who talk so friendly to their neighbors, while they plan to harm them! |
Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back on them what they deserve. | 4Pay them back for their evil deeds! Pay them back for what they do! Punish them! |
Because they have no regard for the deeds of the LORD and what his hands have done, he will tear them down and never build them up again. | 5For they do not understand the LORD's actions, or the way he carries out justice. The LORD will permanently demolish them. |
Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. | 6The LORD deserves praise, for he has heard my plea for mercy! |
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. | 7The LORD strengthens and protects me; I trust in him with all my heart. I am rescued and my heart is full of joy; I will sing to him in gratitude. |
The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. | 8The LORD strengthens his people; he protects and delivers his chosen king. |
Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. | 9Deliver your people! Empower the nation that belongs to you! Care for them like a shepherd and carry them in your arms at all times! |
