The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.1The LORD hates false scales, but he delights in accurate weights.
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.2When pride appears, disgrace accompanies it, but humility is present with wisdom.
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.3The integrity of the righteous guides them, but the hypocrisy of the treacherous destroys them.
Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.4Wealth won't help in the time of judgment, but righteousness will deliver from death.
The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness.5The righteousness of the innocent creates a level path, but the wicked fall by their wickedness.
The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires.6The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are trapped by their evil desires.
Hopes placed in mortals die with them; all the promise of their power comes to nothing.7When a wicked person dies, his hope vanishes; and what he expected from his scheming comes to nothing.
The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead.8The righteous person is delivered from trouble; it comes upon the wicked instead.
With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors, but through knowledge the righteous escape.9By what he says, the godless person can destroy his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape.
When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.10The city rejoices when the righteous prosper, and when the wicked perish there is jubilation.
Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.11Through the blessing of the righteous a city is built up, but what the wicked say tears it down.
Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.12Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but the discerning man controls his comments.
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.13Whoever spreads gossip betrays secrets, but the trustworthy person keeps a confidence.

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.25A generous person will prosper, and anyone who gives water will receive a flood in return.
People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God's blessing on the one who is willing to sell.26People will curse whoever withholds grain, but blessing will come to whoever is selling.
Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.27The person seeking good will find favor, but anyone who searches for evil—it will find him!

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who wins people is wise.
If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!31If the righteous receive what they are due here on earth, how much more will the wicked and the sinner.
