New International VersionNET Bible
For the director of music. A psalm of David. The king rejoices in your strength, LORD. How great is his joy in the victories you give!1For the music director; a psalm of David. O LORD, the king rejoices in the strength you give; he takes great delight in the deliverance you provide.
You have granted him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.2You grant him his heart's desire; you do not refuse his request. (Selah)
You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.3For you bring him rich blessings; you place a golden crown on his head.
He asked you for life, and you gave it to him-- length of days, for ever and ever.4He asked you to sustain his life, and you have granted him long life and an enduring dynasty.
Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.5Your deliverance brings him great honor; you give him majestic splendor.
Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.6For you grant him lasting blessings; you give him great joy by allowing him into your presence.
For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.7For the king trusts in the LORD, and because of the sovereign LORD's faithfulness he is not upended.
Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies; your right hand will seize your foes.8You prevail over all your enemies; your power is too great for those who hate you.
When you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and his fire will consume them.9You burn them up like a fiery furnace when you appear; the LORD angrily devours them; the fire consumes them.
You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind.10You destroy their offspring from the earth, their descendants from among the human race.
Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.11Yes, they intend to do you harm; they dream up a scheme, but they do not succeed.
You will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.12For you make them retreat when you shoot your arrows at them.
Be exalted in your strength, LORD; we will sing and praise your might.13Rise up, O LORD, in strength! We will sing and praise your power!
