| 1Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. | 1But God remembered Noah and all the animals and livestock that were with him in the ark. And God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters began to subside. |
| 2The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained. | 2The springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens were closed, and the rain from the sky was restrained. |
| 3And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased. | 3The waters receded steadily from the earth, and after 150 days the waters had gone down. |
| 4Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat. | 4On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. |
| 5And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen. | 5And the waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible. |
| 6So it came to pass, at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made. | 6After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark |
| 7Then he sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters had dried up from the earth. | 7and sent out a raven. It kept flying back and forth until the waters had dried up from the earth. |
| 8He also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground. | 8Then Noah sent out a dove to see if the waters had receded from the surface of the ground. |
| 9But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself. | 9But the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out his hand and brought her back inside the ark. |
| 10And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark. | 10Noah waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. |
| 11Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth. | 11And behold, the dove returned to him in the evening with a freshly plucked olive leaf in her beak. So Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth. |
| 12So he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore. | 12And Noah waited seven more days and sent out the dove again, but this time she did not return to him. |
| 13And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry. | 13In Noah’s six hundred and first year, on the first day of the first month, the waters had dried up from the earth. So Noah removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. |
| 14And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried. | 14By the twenty-seventh day of the second month, the earth was fully dry. |
| 15Then God spoke to Noah, saying, | 15Then God said to Noah, |
| 16“Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. | 16“Come out of the ark, you and your wife, along with your sons and their wives. |
| 17Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” | 17Bring out all the living creatures that are with you—birds, livestock, and everything that crawls upon the ground—so that they can spread out over the earth and be fruitful and multiply upon it.” |
| 18So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him. | 18So Noah came out, along with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. |
| 19Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark. | 19Every living creature, every creeping thing, and every bird—everything that moves upon the earth—came out of the ark, kind by kind. |
| 20Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. | 20Then Noah built an altar to the LORD. And taking from every kind of clean animal and clean bird, he offered burnt offerings on the altar. |
| 21And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. | 21When the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma, He said in His heart, “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from his youth. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done. |
| 22“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.” | 22As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall never cease.” |
