New King James Version | International Standard Version |
To the Chief Musician. Set to “Do Not Destroy.” A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near. | 1We praise you, God! We praise you —your presence draws near— as we declare your wonderful deeds. |
“When I choose the proper time, I will judge uprightly. | 2"At the time that I choose I will judge the righteous. |
The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved; I set up its pillars firmly. Selah | 3While the earth and all its inhabitants melt away, it is I who keep its pillars firm." Interlude |
“I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn. | 4I will say to the proud, "Don't brag," and to the wicked, "Don't vaunt your strength. |
Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck.’ ” | 5Don't use your strength to fight heaven or speak from stubborn arrogance." |
For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south. | 6For exaltation comes not from the east, the west, or the wilderness, |
But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another. | 7since God is the judge. This one he will debase or that one he will exalt. |
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, And the wine is red; It is fully mixed, and He pours it out; Surely its dregs shall all the wicked of the earth Drain and drink down. | 8For there is a cup in the hand of the LORD, foaming with well-mixed wine that he will pour out, leaving only the dregs, from which all the wicked of the earth will drink. |
But I will declare forever, I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. | 9But as for me, I will declare forever, singing praise to the God of Jacob. |
“All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off, But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.” | 10I will cut down the strength of the wicked, but the strength of the righteous will be lifted up. |
